Garfield County Court Docket Searches
Most Garfield County docket searches start at the Washington Courts Name and Case Search. That statewide portal indexes Superior, District and Municipal, and appellate cases. Choose Garfield County Superior Court for criminal, civil, domestic, or probate and guardianship matters. Choose Garfield District Court for limited-jurisdiction criminal, traffic, infraction, civil, probable-cause, and small-claim matters. Two other doors exist. Odyssey Portal offers public case information for Garfield Superior Court. Find My Court Date answers a District Court setting quickly.
Use the case number first. Keep its letters, dashes, and leading zeroes exactly as written. For a name search, match the spelling used on the court papers. Pick the correct case family. Business names are searchable as well. Broad name searches can miss an inactive party. They can also return people with similar names. Compare the court and the case type. Check the filing date and party role before treating any result as the right one.
- Open the state Case Search and accept its reference-information notice.
- Select the court level, Garfield court, and the correct case type.
- Search by case number, person name, or business name as the interface allows.
- Read the case summary and dated events without treating a scheduled setting as proof it occurred.
- Confirm the setting or request the needed document from the responsible local clerk.
Washington Search Fields for Garfield County Dockets
The statewide form makes jurisdiction part of the query. Pick the wrong court level or case type, and even a correct name can return nothing useful. The public screen presents its search controls before any result appears.
| Field | Use in a Garfield search |
|---|---|
| Court level | Choose Superior, District and Municipal, or Appellate. |
| Search type | Use a name, case number, or business name. |
| Court name | Select Garfield County Superior Court or Garfield District Court. |
| Case type | Match civil, criminal, domestic, probate, traffic, infraction, probable cause, or small claim. |
| Filed in or after | Narrow the filing-year range when a common name returns too much. |
Read the statewide disclaimer before relying on anything. Index information generally updates within 24 hours. Yet it can still be inaccurate, incomplete, or not current. Jot down the court and filters you used. That note helps if you later call the clerk.
Person Search and Attorney Search do different jobs. Person Search wants a first and last name and runs through a CAPTCHA flow. Attorney Search accepts a bar number and date range, which helps when the lawyer is known rather than the party. Find My Court Date needs only a last name and a first-name initial. Each tool answers a narrower question than a full clerk-file request, so treat the result as a way to locate the case, not as its complete history.
Court Dockets: What They Show
A Garfield County court docket lists procedural facts. It is not a story of everything that happened. Depending on the system and case, entries can show the filing, parties and roles, attorneys, charges or claims, scheduled settings, orders, disposition, judgment, and appeal activity. Some results are just a case summary or a register of actions. Documents sit behind the entries. A docket entry does not guarantee the complaint, order, exhibit, transcript, or hearing audio it references.
| Case Number | The court identifier used to distinguish the file; retain the exact punctuation shown. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Names and roles such as plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, or respondent, subject to access limits. |
| Docket Entries / Filings | Dated events for filings, service, motions, pleas, orders, judgments, and appeals. |
| Hearing Settings | A date, time, courtroom, judicial officer, hearing type, and status when published. |
| Court & Judge | The court location and assigned judicial officer shown by the public system. |
| Disposition | The recorded outcome or later status, which must be read in context with later entries. |
Garfield County Docket Codes Need Context
District and municipal entries often use compact JIS codes. For translation, the official JIS docket-code manual is the dependable glossary. A few examples show the pattern. CONTD means continued, STRIKE means stricken, and TRA means transferred. CHRGAM marks a charge amended, and WARN means reduced to warning. BAILST indicates a bail set amount. Remember what these labels are. They mark procedure, not facts, and they never replace the underlying order.

Garfield County Courts and Their Dockets
Garfield County splits its record routes by jurisdiction. General-jurisdiction and limited-jurisdiction courts each have their own. The shared juvenile department and the federal courts run on separate systems. Pomeroy Municipal Court still appears in state search choices. But the official court-code table says it closed on July 31, 2001 and contracted with Garfield District. Treat it as a legacy label, not an active independent courtroom.
| Court | Docket Covers | Where to Search |
|---|---|---|
| Garfield County Superior Court | Felony, major civil, domestic, probate, guardianship, and Superior appeals | Washington Case Search, Odyssey, or County Clerk |
| Garfield County District Court | Misdemeanor, traffic, infraction, small claim, and limited civil matters | Washington CLJ tools, local docket, or District clerk |
| Asotin/Garfield Juvenile Department | Juvenile matters with separate confidentiality rules | Shared department in Asotin |
| Eastern District of Washington | Federal civil, criminal, and bankruptcy matters | PACER/CM-ECF and the federal clerk |
Odyssey Adds a Garfield Superior Court Layer
The Odyssey Portal counts Garfield among its participating counties. Smart Search takes a party or business name and a case number. Search Hearings filters by location, hearing type, party, attorney, judicial officer, courtroom, and date range. Wildcards help with partial names or numbers. For names, the recommended format is Last, First Middle Suffix. The official Odyssey landing screen lays out Smart Search, Search Hearings, and Judgment Search as separate choices. A visitor picks one before typing any case data.

Anonymous access opens public case information, not every document. A filing may be unavailable, restricted, sealed, or available only from the Garfield County Clerk. Registering does not erase a legal access limit. Neither does another product. JIS-Link is a different animal: a paid subscription for docket and financial-accounting information within its scope. Its rate is $0.145 per transaction with a $13 minimum monthly charge, subject to current terms. It does not supply court documents. For an occasional public inquiry, the free state index plus the local clerk usually answers the first question without any subscription.
Court Dates and Settings in Garfield County
Local time blocks describe the calendar. They are not a promise that every case starts on the hour. Superior Court lists its criminal docket at 8:30 a.m. Civil and family sit at 9:00 a.m. District Court lists criminal at 9:00 a.m. Infractions start at 10:00 a.m., and civil, small claims, and anti-harassment matters start at 10:30 a.m. Posted dockets shift. The local District page even directs users to confirm civil hearings with the court.
Find My Court Date is built for District and municipal settings. Odyssey Search Hearings covers Superior settings. A listed event is only a setting. It does not prove a hearing occurred or ended as expected. The full Garfield County court schedule explains the fields and the verification route.
Garfield County Office Hours Differ from Docket Times
A hearing block and a counter window answer different questions. Superior Court and the County Clerk sit at 789 Main Street in Pomeroy. Regular office hours run 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The counter closes from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. Records get viewed in a narrower window: 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Confirm which schedule applies before making the trip.
District Court lists 789 W Main Street, plus its own phone and email. Garfield is rural. The court publishes no 2026 dates page for District settings. So a direct call is the safest final check. Remote access depends on authorization and current credentials. Participants may need to identify themselves. They should follow courtroom decorum and obey the ban on unauthorized recording.
One shared address does not merge the two record desks. A caller chasing a Superior criminal order should use the Superior Clerk line. A traffic infraction belongs to District Court. Bring the case number, event date, and document title. That keeps the shared courthouse from becoming a routing error.
Docket Access Under Washington Law
Washington treats judicial files differently from ordinary agency records. Court rules and court-specific statutes govern, not general records law. GR 31 governs access to court records. GR 15 covers destruction, sealing, and redaction, while GR 22 adds special rules for family-law and guardianship files. Juvenile records follow chapter 13.50 RCW. That is why a public index can omit protected detail even when a case reference stays visible on the Garfield County court docket.
Key Rules:
General Rule 31 sets the statewide framework for access to court records.
General Rule 15 governs sealing, redaction, and destruction procedures.
General Rule 22 limits access to specified family-law and guardianship records.
RCW 13.50.050 applies separate rules to juvenile court files and records.
Restricted Garfield County Dockets Follow Another Route
A thin or empty result can mean several things. The matter may be sealed. It may also involve protected family information, a juvenile file, an inactive party, an archive, or a system migration. It can also mean the wrong court or spelling was selected. Silence is not proof that no proceeding occurred. Vary the docket search carefully, then ask the clerk which access process applies.
Restricted or sealed material may require identification, notice, or a court order. Never repeat a real party's birth date, address, driver's license number, victim information, or allegation in a public example. That rule holds even when a form or result shows it. Learn the process with blank official forms or invented field structures instead.
How the Clerk Keeps Garfield County Docket Records
Marie M. Gormsen serves as Garfield County Clerk. Her office is the primary route for Superior Court records. It also handles civil and family filings, certified or authenticated copies, and Superior hearing audio. District Court keeps its own lower-court records and request form. Give the case number if known. Or give a precise name, date, court, hearing, and document description. A request for one specific order routes far more easily than a request for everything.

Garfield County Copy and Audio Fees Vary by Court
Each Garfield County court sets its own charges. Identify the court before quoting a fee. Superior reports 50 cents per page. Certification costs $5, authentication $9, and an individual hearing or audio CD $25. District reports 50 cents per page, $5 for a certified copy, and $10 per CD. Confirm the current total, payment method, medium, and postage before sending money.
| Item | Superior source | District source |
|---|---|---|
| Plain copy | $0.50 per page | $0.50 per page |
| Certification | $5 | $5 |
| Authentication | $9 | Ask the court |
| Hearing audio or CD | $25 per individual hearing or audio CD | $10 per CD |
Do not blend the two audio prices into one county figure. Email, fax, postal mail, and in-person delivery can each change the practical steps.
Certification confirms a copy through the clerk's process. Authentication is a distinct Superior service to request only when needed. Hearing audio is not a written transcript. Statewide search results, JIS-Link entries, and Odyssey event lines replace none of those products. Ask the clerk what form, payment, and delivery method apply before mailing a request.
Garfield County E-Filing Requires a Clerk Check
The county's Superior Court eFile page says eFile is live and links to eFileUS/eFileWA. The local 2025 rules tell a different story. They say Asotin, Garfield, and Columbia did not accept e-filings in one local-rule context. Those sources conflict. So the link alone is no promise that every Garfield County filing qualifies. Check with the clerk first.
Confirm before filing: Ask the Superior Clerk whether the document is accepted through eFileUS, whether an original or bench copy is required, and how fees must be paid.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Garfield County
Pomeroy is Garfield County's county seat and only incorporated city. The state search interface still offers a Pomeroy Municipal Court option. Washington's official JIS court-code history, though, records that the independent municipal court closed in 2001. After that, it contracted with Garfield District. Current Pomeroy lower-court and traffic questions should start with Garfield District Court. The legacy selection can still help trace an older file. It works best when an exact case number is in hand.

Both courts post the same conduct rules: no food or drink, devices muted, no unauthorized recording, service animals only, and no weapons or large bags, with bags subject to search. The Superior page notes no child care is available on site. Call the specific clerk first, since Superior and District keep separate hours and dockets despite sharing one building.
